Managing Director Biography

Mr. Philip Thomas is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants. He has lived in the Cayman Islands since 1978. His initial appointment in Grand Cayman was with Caribbean Utilities Company Ltd., which he joined in 1978 as Financial Accountant. He quickly moved up the management ladder becoming Financial Director and then, in 1985, Managing Director. He left Caribbean Utilities Ltd. in 1987 to pursue other interests.

In 1985 the then Governor of the Cayman Islands appointed Mr. Thomas as Managing Director of the Electricity Regulatory Authority. He brings to the Authority a unique knowledge of the electricity industry of the Cayman Islands, finance and the Islands themselves.

Mr. Thomas is committed to ensuring that the amount of electricity generated from renewable sources in the Cayman Islands increases significantly thereby reducing the dependence on diesel fuel.
